HANLOH is super excited to be at Shanty Shack Brewing on First Friday! This week's menu is inspired by street vendors in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand where our Chef Lalita Kaewsawang grew up.
We have many gluten free items, two vegan items, and a vegetarian item!
Shanty Shack Brewing began in the back yard of a typical Santa Cruz beach shack on Chanticleer Ave. With a loving community of friends and housemates, all of whom were thirsty, Nathan Van Zandt began brewing experimental beers. But giving his thirsty friends beer for free (as much as they deserved it) was not sustainable. He signed up for a business class at Cabrillo College and little did he know a great friendship and exciting journey lay ahead....
Spring rolls: lettuce, pickled turnip & carrot, fried tofu, rice vermicelli, sweet & sour sauce (vegan & gluten-free)
Fried chicken livers "tub gai tod": Fogline chicken livers marinated with lemongrass, curry, and turmeric, dry fried long-yard beans, dried chili sauce (gluten-free)
Fried chicken "gai tod": marinated with soy coriander, garlic, and white peppers, hot sauce
Thai fried eggs: scrambled then fry on high heat, salted duck eggs, scallions, bean sprouts, hot sauce, rice (vegetarian version available upon request)
Sour curry "kaeng som": housemade curry, green papayas, turnip, daikon, tamarind, rice (vegan & gluten-free)
